About BLS: What Makes This Brand Different

BLS started in 1970 in Milan's Bovisa industrial district, making disposable cup-shaped masks. The company did not begin as a full-range respiratory manufacturer. It grew into one through decades of specialisation, and by 1996, when the CE mark was introduced in Europe, BLS was among the first manufacturers to obtain certification for its products. That early adoption of certification discipline shaped how the company operates. Every BLS respirator is tested to European standards before it reaches the market, and the manufacturing facilities in Italy and Spain are ISO 9001 certified.

The company expanded significantly in 2003 when it acquired Tecnopro, an Italian manufacturer of full-face masks and half masks with twenty years of experience in the industry. The face seal, which determines whether contaminated air leaks into the mask, and the filter, which determines whether the air that does pass through is actually clean. BLS SGE46 UNIVERSAL HALF MASK (₨8,000) - The SGE46 is the workhorse of the BLS half mask range. Made from soft silicone rubber that adapts to different face shapes without pressure marks. Uses a universal RD40 threaded connection compliant with EN 148-1, which means it accepts standard BLS 400 Series filters as well as any other RD40-compatible cartridge. The two-point adjustable harness distributes weight evenly across the head and face. Shelf life of ten years when stored correctly. Best for chemical handling, painting, manufacturing, maintenance and dust-intensive environments.

BLS 4000NEXT S SILICONE HALF MASK (₨8,000) - The 4000next S is a lighter alternative to the SGE46 with a bayonet filter connection instead of a threaded one. The B-Lock connection has a locking feedback mechanism that confirms correct filter installation, which matters when workers are changing cartridges in a hurry. The mask can be disassembled in less than a minute for cleaning, and the head harness includes a drop-off mechanism that lets workers temporarily lower the mask without removing the entire harness. Approximately 25% lighter than standard half masks. Best for construction, manufacturing, laboratories and workplaces where workers need to switch between respiratory protection and other tasks throughout the day.

BLS 2000 SERIES FULL FACE MASK (₨20,000) - Built from soft thermoplastic rubber with an integrated inner facepiece. Uses a universal RD40 threaded connection compliant with EN 148-1 for filter compatibility. The visor is available in polycarbonate or laminated glass with anti-fragmentation EVA film. The anti-fog system uses airflow-controlled channels rather than chemical coatings, which means visibility stays clear without depending on a coating that wears off. Dual front exhalation valves reduce breathing resistance. Six-point adjustable harness for a secure fit across different head sizes. Best for chemical plants, industrial emergencies, painting operations and any environment where both respiratory and eye protection are required.

BLS 3000 SERIES FULL FACE MASK (₨25,000) - The 3000 Series is BLS's higher-specification full-face mask with enhanced chemical resistance and a wider visor for improved field of vision. Same RD40 connection and six-point harness as the 2000 Series, with additional features for harsh environments. Currently available on request. Best for chemical processing, petrochemical facilities and emergency response teams.

BLS 680 NEXT FFP2 MASK - A fold-flat disposable FFP2 respirator with an exhalation valve. The valve reduces heat and moisture buildup inside the mask, which makes long shifts more bearable. The 3-lapel shape fits a wide range of face sizes without adjustment. Shelf life of ten years. Best for dusty environments, construction sites and workplaces where a disposable mask is sufficient for the exposure level.

BLS 400 SERIES FILTER CARTRIDGES - The 400 Series covers the full range of gas, vapour and particulate filters for BLS half masks and full-face masks. The 413 K2 handles ammonia and its derivatives and is priced at ₨5,000. The 415 ABEK2 covers organic and inorganic gases, acid gases and ammonia at ₨4,725. The 425 ABEK2P3 R adds particulate filtration for dust and fumes. The 430 ABEK2HGP3R is the highest-specification combination filter, covering organic, inorganic and acid gases plus ammonia, mercury vapour and particulates. All filters use high-grade activated carbon free from Hexavalent Chromium and are food-grade certified under REGVE231/2017. Every BLS product we stock carries at least one of these certifications. If a product page does not list the specific standard, ask us before you order.

• EN 140 - The European standard for half-mask respirators. Covers facepiece leakage, breathing resistance and material compatibility. The SGE46 and 4000next S both meet this standard.
• EN 136 - The European standard for full-face respirators. Covers facepiece leakage, breathing resistance, field of vision and impact resistance. The 2000 Series and 3000 Series full-face masks meet this standard.
• EN 148-1 - The European standard for threaded filter connections. Covers the RD40 thread specification that allows filters from different manufacturers to fit the same mask. Every BLS half mask and full-face mask uses this connection.
• EN 149 - The European standard for filtering facepieces. Covers filtration efficiency for disposable masks. The BLS 680 NEXT carries FFP2 certification, which filters at least 94% of airborne particles.
• EN 14387 - The European standard for gas and combined filters. Covers the 400 Series cartridges and their classification codes for different gas and vapour types.
